Notepad. It's great. Write your html code in it, save it as a .html, and presto! you have a webpage.

What you'll find is there are free hosting domains out there but you get banner ads on the site, that's how they get paid for. I haven't individually hosted in quite a few years but you need to consider the following basic things:
- Do you, or will you, have a shopping cart? Even if it's just a commercial PayPal account with a badge, consider that.
-If you're handling all your own transactions, not through PayPal, will you have the funds to pay for HTTPS?
Free web hosting generally has a traffic limit, and the banner ads may be inviting to your site's guests, so you must consider that as you build.
The days of people just making web sites to run businesses are long gone. A colleague of mine referred to these places as 'FrozenBroccoliOnAStick.com' places
and for good reason: the power was in the novelty of the internet.
Websites aren't a novelty and take a fulltime person to maintain and update with new content.
The same mistake is being made all over again with Twitter: Whether it's a website, Twitter or a Facebook fan page, it's only a medium. It can't be the backbone of your business. There are a zillion businesses to help people promote themselves on these social networks now, and the job title 'Social Networker' has become very competitive, meaning you have to do a considerable amount more than just lmfao on Facebook and omg on Twitter.
I as an engineer, am far from qualified to be a social networker, even though I understand how the interfaces work. You need to understand markets, how the social network affects product sales, etc.
So hopefully first and foremost you have a solid infrastructure for your business.
The difference between Amazon and a lot of other companies in the 1990s is that Amazon has a product and service model that works, and they either didn't or didn't have the financing to keep it going.
Whether it was seminars in the 1980s, web pages in the 1990s or social networks in the 21st century, they're all just mediums to put forth what your business offers.
All points to consider.

You basically have 3 choices.
1: Learn html and such. A good resource for this is w3schools.com
2: Use something like word to writ the document. For the record, I don't recommend it. Yes, it'll get the job done initially, but the code it spews is... disgusting. There may be some programs that do a better job, but any program that does it is going to be imperfect at best.
3: You may have to hire someone to do it. Some people find that they just don't want to learn all that stuff, and have to rely on someone else to do it for them. But people aren't going to do that for free, unless they're being paid, or at least have a stake in the company.

What you could also do is install some kind of CMS on your webhost, if they support it.
Either wordpress or drupal or something.

If you would like to check out a free web creater, you can go to www.webs.com I have several websites created on their and it is very accessible if you tweak a few settings. Also, you can get into contact with me by private messages if you'd like help with creating a website using this creater. The only negative is that there is a small ad for webs.com at the bottom if you have a free website, or you can pay a one year fee to have ads removed and premium features.
